James is a very knowledgeable garage door technician. He came to help resolve the flashing garage door opener light when the door was in the open position. He noted that the door was quiet and very well balanced. He called a marantec door specialist to review what he had done in the past and whether there were other options he wasn’t aware of. He reprogrammed the opener and made minor adjustments to one of the 4 springs to resolve the problem. So far all is great. Thanks James

This company is almost a scam. My garage door opener stopped working, and I could program it to close but not the other way round. I called Precision asking for a repair. The guy came very quickly (in 20 minutes) and checked my garage door. He also failed to program it correctly and then did a so-called 25 points check. As can be expected, almost everything was wrong. He then gave me an estimate of replacing my system with his, ranging from 700 to 1200 bucks. What is worse is that I have to pay him 119.95 for the visit even though he failed to repair the door opener! Later I found out that a new and decent door opener plus the installation in Home Depot just costs $356! What a shame! Please be careful in using this company for any repair jobs since they are more interested in selling their system to you than repairing your current one!

Hi Bin. I apologize that your experience was what you didn't expect. I was able to get more information on some of the details from the tech, as well as our manager of the San Diego location. It seems your garage door opener is in need of a new logic board. That explains why it would work in programming mode, but not in standard mode. Unfortunately, without replacing the board, the opener will never perform as expected or desired. During the 25 point inspection, there are a few issues you may want to consider having done. Your garage door is currently heavy when closed. This can be caused by improper spring tension and or failing springs. This puts excessive wear on your opener and other garage door systems. Before replacing your opener, you should have a trained professional adjust or replace your springs. Yes, you can purchase garage door openers from Home Depot at a lower cost. Our openers do run a bit more, but in your case you would be receiving a proper size opener for your door, battery backup (California law), installation, warranty and adjustments to other parts to make your entire garage door system run as smooth and quiet as possible. We do have a service fee of $119.95 on all garage door service. This is mentioned as well as acknowledged during the time of booking. However, we do offer a 1/2 price service fee with any garage door repair, and we wave the service fee with any repair over $350. All garage door companies have a service fee to send out technicians.
