I posted a brief review on the Precision website, but our great experience warrants a full review here. Our tech was Josh Jackson and he was quite simply amazing. He reminded me and my wife of what we used to expect and so rarely see anymore when it comes to great service—what a difference! For anyone interested in saving themselves money and aggravation, here is a little story that we learned is not unique to our family: About five years ago, one of our garage door springs broke and we contacted what we thought to be a reputable company, "Garage Door Service and Repair, Inc." When they replaced the springs, that company's representative/tech told us their springs had a lifetime warranty and so we kept our very official looking 7-page work contract and sales receipt for the inevitable day we would need them. That day turned out to be last Friday evening when one of our springs broke. When we tried to contact that company we learned that **surprise** they are out of business. Not only that, but their California State License was revoked, etc. Needless to say, a lifetime warranty is only good for the lifetime of the company issuing the warranty. After realizing that we needed to start over, and this time with a company that has decades of track record and happy customers, we contacted Precision Garage Door. Last Saturday, as promised, Josh Jackson showed up on time and with as big a smile as he could muster through some pretty painful dental work he just had done a few days earlier. How do I know this? He talked with me----we got to know one another! Not everyone appreciates that level of personal acquaintance but I find it pretty damn comforting when someone's working in the space where my family lives. He took one look at our paperwork form the previous repair company and knew exactly what had happened to us. Interestingly, he told us that the same operation exists in various forms in states outside of California and that when they get calls from people like us, they routinely "refer" their "warranty work" to Precision. Unfortunately, Josh and other techs have found themselves in the uncomfortable position of having to explain what I already knew before he even got here: that company is defunct and their warranty is worthless. Josh took a look at our broken spring and we raised the garage door. Our conversation was flowing and I didn't notice he performed the necessary 25-point inspection while we were chatting. He verified that the work would be completed for the price I was quoted and got down to business. He went out of his way to explain everything he was doing, and why. He replaced the center support and bearing for our door shaft because "it was going to fail sooner than later." He did the same with several other important parts that mean it will be a long time before we have to worry about something nobody wants to worry about. If you're still reading this review, you are probably where we were last Friday evening and wondering who to call. Easy answer: Precision. You've surely caught on by now that we are beyond satisfied with the work Josh did for us. He fixed our garage door and managed to restore a little faith that good people and legit businesses are still out there. If you need work done on your garage door, your search for the right company ends here and you'll never call anyone else once you've worked with them. A very sincere thanks to Precision Garage Door of San Diego and to your superb technician, Josh Jackson!

Quote on phone was $79 for tune up, waiving the service fee due to not getting back to customer after multiple inquiries. At time of service, spring tightening was not an option and only replacement was mandated. And additional undisclosed “fuel charge” was added on quote for a total over $500. I Will be reaching out to someone else for the work. Tech was nice.
